IR Update – Employment for Project’s Duration no Bar to Unfair Claim

When engaging employees for a specific project/commercial contract, many employers assume they are immune from unfair dismissal claims when the project comes to an end. This may not be the case though, according to a recent FWC (Fair Work Commission) appeal full bench, which found that an administrative manager was entitled to make a claim, because she wasn’t employed to perform a “specified task,” despite being engaged for a specific project.        (Read more)

Market Leading Commercial and Domestic Cockroach Control Options

Whilst there are seasonal ups and downs, the demand for cockroach control services remains fairly steady throughout the year. However, our current seasonal conditions of summer heat combined with high humidity in most of the country are bringing out cockroaches, making for a very busy season for pest management professionals. In the battle against increasing cockroach populations, pest managers have proven that baits and liquid barriers, in addition to environmental management advice are necessary.

Using a non-repellent surface spray (ARILON Insecticide) in conjunction with gel baits (ADVION Cockroach Gel) is proving an excellent option for pest managers for the control of cockroaches in both commercial and domestic situations. Both these products contain indoxacarb and provide excellent control, ensuring customer satisfaction and reduced call backs. A leading pest control business in Brisbane, Qld, has been using the combination of ADVION and ARILON with great success for both commercial and domestic jobs.  (Read more)

Successful flea treatment requires destruction of the entire life-cycle

Flea treatment is one of the most specialised Pest Management Activities you will undertake because it involves the application of a fine mist of insecticide across all horizontal surfaces where fleas are present.  Internally this will include many highly sensitive surfaces that must be treated and yet there is a high chance of unacceptable damage if it is not done correctly.  The flea and its larvae do not discriminate as to which surface they will inhabit so you must ensure complete coverage in order to bring about the destruction of the entire lifecycle.            (Read more)

An Oldie but a Goldie!  Deltamethrin is a formulation second-to-none

Deltamethrin is a long-established and proven synthetic derivative of the natural insecticide pyrethrum.  It has a very high level of safety at approved use rates and has a number of important uses World-wide.  It is one of the main compounds used in the fight against malaria-carrying-mosquitoes (both as an indoor spray but also for the treatment of mosquito bed-nets).

Deltamethrin provides excellent knock-down, affecting a specific area of the insect’s nervous system.  Insects are much more susceptible to deltamethrin than humans, other mammals and birds.  More importantly, it is safe to use in the home around family and pets as it binds tightly to surfaces where it is applied, and is not readily dislodged.  It is not volatile, so no airborne residues are generated after spray droplets have settled. Studies carried out by Bayer have proven this.      (Read more)
