“As you will have heard from the media recently, there have been quite a few changes to superannuation. announced by the Treasurer in this year’s budget.

The people who will be most affected are those still trying to accumulate retirement savings.  For those of you already in retirement the outlook is not as bleak as it may have been.   (Read more)

What do the changes to the 2016 Budget mean for Small Businesses?

There is welcome news that the turnover threshold for classifying a “small business entity” will increase from $2 million to $10 million.  According to the government, this will allow a further 90,000 to 100,000 businesses to access a range of small business tax concessions, such as the $20,000 instant asset write-off, use of small business pools, and concessional PAYG instalments.   (Read more)

Storm means no call-backs

Pest managers have a wide range of rodenticide brands and bait formulations to choose from.

But not all rodenticides work in the same way, and some bait formulations are more effective than others. Rodenticide choice and effectiveness often depends on the type of situation where the rodents are located. Food availability, rodent type and baiting history are just some of the factors that affect rodent control and influence rodenticide choice.

Many rodenticides only work well in specific situations, and don’t have the ability to produce consistent results in the wide-ranging scenarios that pest managers face. And pest managers don’t want to carry multiple types of rodenticides – they would prefer to use one product that can produce results in a wide range of scenarios.   (Read more)

Procedural fairness trumps strong expletive used by employee - an IR Update

Once again an employee, whose use of abusive language towards his employer got him the sack, has been found unfairly dismissed by the FWC.

When an employee raised his concerns with his employer about unpaid overtime, a verbal altercation ensued.  It was alleged that the employer said something to the effect of “I can’t afford to put food on the f—king table for my family” to which the employee responded “that’s not my f—king problem you owe me money” and went on to use a very strong profanity to describe his employer.   (Read more)

NSW AGM and Meeting

The AEPMA NSW ACT Branch held its General meeting on 6 May at 4pm at the offices of Agserv, Silverwater. The chairman was pleased to see new faces at the meeting as well as two life members, being Mr Mal Trotter and Mr Greg Moon.  After going through the apologies and minutes, the Chairman gave his and the office bearers’ report for the last 12 months and thanked Agserv, Globe and Ensystex for their assistance during this period.  He also thanked all for their effort and contribution to the State Council.  There was no report for the sub branches and Mr Legey pointed out that should activity arise from the sub branches, they would be more than happy to welcome their delegate to the State Council.    (Read more)

Ensystex Seminars

Ensystex have just completed their Australian seminar program with the final event in Perth turning up nearly 100 delegates.  Professional pest managers in attendance discovered the latest research data on cockroach biology, foraging and feeding behaviour, and how this relates to practical improvements in their control programs.

This was followed by a presentation on Ensystex’s outstanding new breakthrough product, Muskil Dual Action Rodenticide with Fluo-NP UV-A Tracking Technology. Additional presentations on product innovation and the studies that go into bringing new products to the market were also well received.    (Read more)
