The FAOPMA conference, which was held in Hong Kong in November, provided the opportunity for member countries to outline the regulatory and operational environment under which they operate, including potential future challenges. The conference also provided a focus for developments in Europe where the development of a potential Pest Management Standard, which will eventually be recognised by the ISO standards is well advanced.
The next FAOPMA conference will be held in Penang, Malaysia and is being organised by the Pest Control Association of Malyasia (PCAM). The 26th FAOPMA Convention 2015 will be held from 2-3 September 2015 at the Hotel Equatorial Penang, Malaysia. The theme is ‘Managing Invasive Pests for a Sustainable Tomorrow’. In a strong vote of support for Australia, the Gold Coast will host FAOPMA 2016. FAOPMA provides the opportunity for countries in the Asia Pacific to hear the most recent changes in pest management. It provides a great opportunity for industry to learn from shared experiences in a congenial atmosphere.
