Pestec celebrates milestone win with staff and customers

Posted on: 04/12/2015

Pestec celebrated being named Australian Pest Manager of the Year and NSW Pest Manager of the Year for the second year running with 80 of their best customers, suppliers and staff on a 4-hour cruise around stunning Sydney Harbour in October.

Pestec owners, Rowan and Pania Gregson, said they wanted a special way of thanking all of the people who have supported Pestec over the past 16 years. “Being named the best in the country is such a significant achievement we really wanted to celebrate in a significant way,” said Rowan. “Some of these customers have been with me since before I even started Pestec so this was a perfect opportunity to say thank you,” he said.

Guests enjoyed the potted history presented by Rowan and Pania of how the business started and its journey to where it is today.  Of particular significance was that Rowan’s father, Ken, with whom Rowan started his pest control career in Queensland, was there to celebrate.

Among the revellers were award sponsor BASF’s Andrew Glenn and AEPMA NSW Chairman, Patrick Legey.  AEPMA National President, Vasili Tsoutouras, congratulated Pestec in a video message recorded especially for the occasion.  “Pestec has truly grown as a company,” he said.  “They’ve excelled in all of the categories asked of them within the judging process. Rowan and Pania should be nothing short of proud of their company and happy with their achievement,” he added.  Video messages of congratulations were also sent in by Sydney radio 2GB’s Chris Smith and Graham Ross.

Since the win, Pestec has enjoyed good growth including new business coming directly from the award. “It’s surprising how many people value the title,” Rowan said. “We’ve even secured a state government piece of work as a direct result of the award.” Asked if he would recommend other companies enter the award, Rowan said, “Definitely, it’s a valuable process that encourages you as a business owner to look more deeply at your business and to implement improvements.”
