If you carry out regular cockroach jobs you know how difficult it can be getting in, around and under obstacles with your hand held sprayer.
Fortunately, cockroach treatment has just got a lot easier with the recent introduction of the System III from BASF. The System III takes crack and crevice treatment to a new level, enabling pest managers to make precise application of pressurised products right into the harbourages where cockroaches eat, rest and reproduce.
Specifically designed for use with Phantom® Pressurised Insecticide, the System III consists of a small applicator and a long coiled hose with a connector that enables simple attachment to the pressurised can.

Pest managers with seemingly uncontrollable cockroach infestations, have taken up using Phantom Pressurised Insecticide in association with the System III, and achieved some great results.
One such pest manager is Shane Clarke from Pestforce in Sydney. “We had a situation with a pub on the outskirts of Sydney with one of the worst German cockroach infestations I had ever seen. The pub was an old historic building, so access to harbourages was not easy. The owners did not help the situation by having an excessive amount of alternative food sources available.
“There was extreme cockroach activity. They were behind the skirting boards, ceiling trims, the fuse box and behind the splashbacks, just to name a few. They were everywhere!”
Spray treatments were being made on a weekly basis, in both the open and concealed areas. It was difficult to get good access and therefore insecticide to the harbourages. Because there were so many alternative food sources, baits had only a marginal effect.
“We had been using Phantom SC, but like all water based sprays it was messy and left some visible residue. Having to carry the sprayer around meant it was difficult to get to all the important harbourage areas. So we then switched to Phantom Pressurised Insecticide using the System III applicator,” said Mr Clarke.
“Using System III gave us added flexibility. The can was attached to my belt, which meant I could have a torch in one hand and the applicator in the other. Because the System III was so compact I could get into previously inaccessible harbourages and apply a measured dose. I was able to fully treat cupboards without having to empty them. Not a safe use.
The System III has a lever on the top the can, which charges the applicator. That enables the operator to apply a measured dose at any angle, even when the can is upside down. When that dose has been applied the operator just simply recharges the applicator.

“Risk of overdosing is minimised with the System III. There are no drips, and significantly less product is used, as the application is far more targeted and measured,” added Mr Clarke.
“Some of the treatment areas were in very awkward situations. This meant turning the pressurised can upside down. A great benefit of the System III was that flow of the product remained constant, despite what position or angle the can was held at.
Mr Clarke advised that the German cockroach infestation eventually came under control using the System III and Phantom Pressurised Insecticide. “When we started using it the client reported a sharp drop in the cockroach population after just a few days.”
Maintenance inspections and treatments are far less frequent now, and Mr Clarke has a satisfied client who is exceptionally pleased with the result.
“The System III is a versatile piece of application equipment. It enables very efficient application of insecticide as you can apply many small applications over multiple areas. Using the System III means that one can of Phantom Pressurised Insecticide goes a long way.
“In addition to that, the System III is made of high quality, strong, robust parts and materials.
“When compared to conventional applications, I think the System III is a more convenient and cleaner system. It minimises the chance of overspray, reducing marking and potential for contamination. There is no mixing with the System III, which is great for the technician. Clients love it because there are no drips and no mess.
“The chances of accidental discharge are dramatically reduced, and there is a lot less cleaning and maintenance with the System III. In addition to that, it is light and compact, which is a great benefit to our female technicians.
“Because we can easily get to so many concealed harbourages with the System III it means we can be precise and ‘surgical’ with our approach, and achieve better cockroach control.”
