On 3 November, I, on behalf of AEPMA NSW, was pleased to receive the Indian Pest Control Association Vice President Mr Jaldhi Trivedi from Elite Corporation in Mumbai.
Mr Trivedi was taken on Austrapest sites to observe how cockroach treatments were carried out in Sydney. He was also taken to a site with active Coptotermes spp. termites present in the house and where an Exterra system was installed as a control method.

Mr Trivedi was very impressed with our trucks, fittings and the technology we use in Australia. He almost fell over when I told him how much, an average technician wage was in Sydney in the Pest Management Industry. The average wage in Mumbai in the same Industry is between 2600 and 2900 Rupies a month which is equivalent to @ $50 a month.
I learnt that 2.5 billion people live in India, Coptotermes are also their biggest termite problem and they have no baiting systems available. Technicians use bikes with boxes on the sides and trucks are only used in the business where heavy or large equipment is required.
35% of Elite Corporation work is full fumigation and Jahldi referred to a “Mr Peter” as the teacher who taught them a lot about fumigation in India. After a few questions, I quickly realized that “Mr Peter” was in fact our own AEPMA Life Member, Mr Peter Meadows. I hope one day “Mr Peter”, will tell us about his adventures in India.
I found Mr Trivedi a very interesting and knowledgeable person in Pest Management and I have only one regret which is that we didn’t have more time to talk about our work or socializing. It also made realize how global our industry is. Loved it!!
