An AEPMA NSW ACT State Council Branch meeting held at Globe Australia. A big thank you to Globe for offering their board room for the meeting. It was great for the people present to visit Kevin’s new office and warehouse. What a meeting it was! A whole 3 and a half hours!
The Council was pleased to have 4 new AEPMA NSW members since last meeting.
Patrick Legey (Chairman) acknowledged an email from Stephen Ware (National Executive Director) thanking the State Council for their help at the recent AEPMA conference in Homebush.
A request from Mr Jhaldi Trivedi (Indian Pest Control Association Vice President) and a request from Chinese government officials to have meetings in Sydney to discuss the role of AEPMA and the Pest Management Industry were also discussed.
Other items included re branding of State Branches, next AEPMA conference in 2016, which will be held on the Gold Coast, review of the Pest Management Competencies including Certificate 3 (2nd draft available for comments till 1 December 2014), PMITAG, listing of Life Members on the website (a NSW initiative), website listing for members (make sure your info is there or you are missing out on valuable calls and jobs), revamping photographic competition and so many more.
It was also noted that two recent new second edition Codes of Practice had been released – a Code of Practice for Pest Management in the Food Industry in Australia and New Zealand and a Code of Practice for Prior to Purchase Specialist Timber Pest Inspections, both are now available on the AEPMA website free of charge.
A new Pest Management hand book for food industry owners is also available free of charge from the website. Work is currently been done on two new Codes of Practice: Termite Management Pre construction and for Existing buildings. I was somewhat surprised to hear that some people were still asking what AEPMA and its tireless volunteers were doing for them!
It was very interesting to hear that no claim has been received by insurers on reports done in accordance with the Code of Practice for Prior to Purchase Specialist Timber Pest Inspection. If you have not read them yet do so as soon as possible, remember we are the professionals.
I, on behalf of the AEPMA NSW ACT State Council, was very pleased to welcome our new Councillor Mr Shane Clarke of Pestforce (Sydney). If you are interested in serving in your Association’s Industry don’t be afraid, get in touch with us.
The State Council congratulated Mr Greg Moon for his Life Membership Award achievement which he richly deserved and Rowan and Pania Gregson (Pestec) for NSW Pest Manager of the Year Award.
The next meeting will be held on the weekend of 7 - 8 February 2015 at Hawks Nest on the beautiful North Coast of NSW. Those wishing to attend an AEPMA Council meeting in their State, should get in touch with the AEPMA National Office for upcoming dates and locations
